Controversial Photos amidst ONDOY

MICKEY ARROYO BUYING LIQUOR THE DAY AFTER ONDOY
This picture I got from the facebook album of Kaila Dionisio, the quote from the picture was>>>
Saw this post from my brother's friend, so frustrating! She says: "Was buying food for keeps... then we saw Mikey Arroyo in Rustans Liquor Section asking the salesman for a brand of hard alcoholic drink. Effin Crazy! Just a few kilometers away from Katipunan, people are needing help for search and rescue, and there he was buying bottles of alcohol"

read more about this story!
>>>the link above had at least 30+ responses/comments from readers, mostly rants.

Hi, I reposted the Mikey picture after picking it up from another network…hours later, I got this message from a certain Andrew Lacsamana:
—————–
Hi! Just concerned… I hope you don’t mind. The posted photo of Mikey Arroyo is a hoax. I hope we could let everyone know that this is a hoax. The owner of the photo already sent a shoutout that this is was taken a long time ago. Let’s hope this doesn’t get blown out of proportion. This is the last thing the country needs right now. I hope we could just concentrate on helping each other out after this calamity.
Thanks
———————-
You seem to know the owner of the FB account which was the apparent source of the photo…Perhaps you can confirm or deny what this Mr. Lacsamana is saying…my other friends who reposted the picture on FB also received the same message from Mr. Lacsamana…
Best,
Romel

I can’t believe they are already threatening her. Maybe Mikey is drinking because he can’t come back to his million dollar house in the US. He broke US laws regarding mortgage fraud, money laundering and Section 312 of the USA Patriot Act that deals with Senior Foreign Political Figures and ill-gotten wealth. He put $264K down on the house and obtained a 1st mortgage of $858K and a 2nd Mortgage for $198K. This means he claimed an income of at least $300K US to qualify for the mortgage. (he makes 40,000 Pesos a month as salary) That’s fraud. He paid the mortgage in 20 months as a Deed of Reconveyance was issued to Angela Arroyo Montenegro from IndyMac Bank on 4/15/2008, meaning they paid off the mortgages. By paying off $1,056,000 in mortgages in 20 months, they skirted the safeguards in place to monitor bank accounts. Once the house is sold, the money is now “clean” and Angela Montenegro can deposit the title company check and say she is a real estate investor and no one would know she is the daughter-in-law of the President of the Philippines. I have supplied this evidence to FBI, who can pull the original mortgage application and sniff out their other properties here. I hear there is a house in Fremont CA that Rufa Mae Quinto has boasted that Mikey bought for her as well. Now she is boasting publicly of a new house in SF, by some “mystery” man. It is well-known in showbiz circles there that she’s his kabit.

I also saw this picture. Some friends and I are currently debating about this one. If the link or account was suspended, there are two main reasons. First, the user (owner) was the one who deleted it. Second is that Facebook was the one who did it. Which means there was possible copyright violation. If there was such a violation, could it mean then that it is really him?
Just my two cents.

spread the word~ It’s him! It’s that sly smile that he carries just like his mother.

MANNY VILLAR'S PACKED LUNCH FOR ONDOY VICTIMS
This was another controversial picture that was getting re-posted around people's facebook walls. there were at least hundreds of rants about it.

RG, a cousin of my good friend M, posted this note on facebook.

Explanation re: Ondoy's packed lunch

+++

In campaigns, maraming volunteers na sumasali. Meron din mga generous friends and mga nagdonate ng ready to distribute packed lunch, and we did not bother to check them kasi kailangan mabilisan ang galaw, so lagay lahat sa trucks. Meron din namang mga friends na dumretso na agad sa affected areas at tumulong in behalf of the good Senator. Shempre, tumutulong sila, hindi natin alam kung ano ang nakalagay sa mga pinamimigay nila. It's not the time to meddle in politics and magsiraan. Magtulong tulong na lang tayo para sa mga nasalanta. You are more than welcome to give donations and/or join us in helping the Ondoy victims. Let us spread love not hate :)... thanks

Message from Camille Villar:

Last saturday until today, members of our organization and company started working to help those in need because of the typhoon, we have worked ceaselessly for the past 48+ hours or so, our engineers and volunteers toured the streets on our trucks to rescue who they could. Up to date we have resued 2750 ppl from areas in central luzon, we have also given relief to around 20000 people, in our rush to get as much help out we may have overlooked what items were sent out. A lot of stuff were also just given to our centers. We just wanted to get everything we had out asap and if anyone was offended or if there were insensitivities then my sincerest and utmost apologies... We are doing the best we can, rest assured that all we wanted to do was help as many people as we could. It is still our primarily goal, and at this point the most impt thing is for us to go out and help. If anyone would like to help pls call 09178122802 and 09174226800, volunteers also welcome in the upper ground floor of WWC- world wide corp center along shaw blvd, just in front of Shangrila mall, beside Starmall. thank you!

KETSANA devastates a whole nation

september 26, 2009...was just an ordinary day, or so thought. i got back at the apartment at 4am, it was cold and raining still, nothing to be alarmed with because it's been raining on and off the past weeks. not yet sleepy so i decided to watch a movie while checking emails, ebay & facebook. i snoozed after a few minutes, must've been tired after all, was awaken at around 7am when my flatemate T arrived with her +1Y. moved the mouse as the laptop had gone in a standby mode, the TV was still blaring with the movie, played a bit of Mafia and finally logout and  shut-off-ed! ZZZzzz it was probably around 9am when i was awakened by T, which was a surprise because we never wake each other up except when we need to go to work and the alarm didn't work or in dire cases only. T went out to buy something and was alarmed at the rain water rising on the streets of evangelista and outside our apartment. we finally decided to move all our stuffs in the living room upstairs and just in a nick of time, a few seconds after we finished hauling our stuffs, water surged at our apartment and a few minutes later, our apartment was flooded ankle-deep and still rising at an alarming rate, even our laundry area and toilet was totally flooded.as the rain continued to pour, we had no idea what was happening elsewhere, we couldn't plug the TV because the sockets were so low so we just waited for the rain to stop & made paper boats, it was also a good thing we were well stocked with food and drinking water. it was only after a few hours when i finally got connected to the net and opened my FB and listened to the radio that i finally realized how serious the situation is elsewhere, i was shocked...people were dying, getting stranded in their own homes without food, drinking water or medicine, by this time T was already sleeping, but i couldn't sleep anymore. 7pm, the water inside our apartment has finally stopped rising luckily it never reached the electric sockets and luckily we still had electricity. another friend T came knocking with her +1J, they were wet, jeans folded to their knees, they were both carrying their rubber shoes J was barefoot and T was wearing flipflops. they had walked from Glorietta (ayala) to our Apartment (evangelista), they never made it to work...elsewhere the death toll was rising, some are still not rescued, and it was still raining. another major calamity :(

here are a few pictures i got from friends at FB.

More than 330,000 people were affected by storm, including some 59,000 people who were brought to about 100 schools, churches and other evacuation shelters, officials said. Troops, police and volunteers have so far been able to rescue more than 5,100 people.

The 16.7 inches (42.4 centimeters) of rain that swamped metropolitan Manila in just 12 hours on Saturday exceeded the 15.4-inch (39.2-centimeter) average for all of September. The rainfall also broke the previous record of 13.2 inches (33.4 centimeters), which fell in a 24-hour period in June 1967.

Ketsana "ONDOY", which packed winds of 53 miles per hour (85 kilometers) with gusts of up to 63 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour), hit land early Saturday then roared across the main northern Luzon island toward the South China Sea.

It's the 15th of about 20 typhoons and storms that forecasters expect will lash the country this year. Death toll has reached 100+ and more people are missing.

MOVIE: dr. seuss' horton hears a who!

i had finished watching dr.seuss' horton hears a who, just now. i have seen the trailer a year ago before it was shown and i definitely remember telling myself that i'm gonna watch it, now i wonder what kept me from watching it. it's a good movie. entertainingly funny at the same time, lessons for children (and adults, too) are abundant in every second of the film.

  • What we do affects those around us.
  • A person is a person no matter how small.
  • We should be open to all possibilities
  • Mob rule is never the best choice
  • Speak the truth even if it hurts those around us.
  • Admit your mistake.
  • Forgiveness.
horton hears a who, assembled an all star cast consisting of Jim Carrey (horton), Steve Carrell (whoville mayor ned mcdodd), isla fisher (dr.larue), selena gomez (96 mcdodd daughters), jesse mccartney (jojo), and a whole lot more. i especially love Hedy, the youngest mcdodd daughter and baby of the family & katie, the yellow puffball student of horton, she's supposedly a small baby yak, she's so cute because she has strange habits and abilities (she has a frog-like tongue and can float) and she tends to say "ahhhhh" a lot. when horton's students create worlds of their own with their own flower, katie explains that everyone in her world is a pony that eats rainbow and poops butterflies XD hilarious!!!

what's it about??? In the Jungle of Nool on the fifteenth of May where a warthog briefly ran, a caring, imaginative elephant named Horton, the jungle's nature teacher, takes a dip in the pool. A dust speck floats past him in the air, and he hears a tiny yelp coming from it. Believing that an entire family of microscopic creatures are living on that speck, he places it on top of a pink, fuzzy clover that he holds in his trunk. In fact, he finds out the speck harbors the city of Who-ville and all its inhabitants, led by Mayor Ned McDodd. He has a loving wife, Sally, 96 daughters, who all have names that start with the letter H, and one son named JoJo, who, by Who custom, is next in line for the mayoral position. JoJo does not want to become mayor, which leads him to become sullen and refuse to talk, despite Ned's giving him extra attention. The Mayor finds out from Dr. Larue that Whoville will be destroyed if Horton does not find a "safer more stable home." So Horton resolves to place the speck atop Mt. Nool, the safest place in the jungle. This outlook earns Horton nothing but ridicule from the inhabitants of Nool, especially from the strict official of the jungle, the Sour Kangaroo, who tries to get Horton to give up the speck, so as not to put supposedly ridiculous ideas into the heads of the children. Ever faithful to his motto, "A person's a person, no matter how small," Horton refuses. Also taking force toward Horton are the Wickersham brothers, a group of bullying monkeys who love making misery. All the small incidents that Horton experiences on his trek across the jungle have a catastrophic effect on Who-ville. He almost falls off a rickety bridge over a gaping chasm with a river of dangerous crocodiles at the bottom, which causes a dentist's needle to accidentally slip into the Mayor's arm while getting a root canal. When Horton left the clover outside overnight, it frosted over, which created winter in the summer down in Whoville. As the other Whos become suspicious, the Mayor finally reveals the truth, but at first, the Whos do not believe him any more than the animals believe Horton. In the meantime, the Kangaroo has enlisted a nefarious buzzard named Vlad Vladikoff  to get rid of the speck by force after feasting on a zebra carcass. Vlad manages to steal the clover with the speck on it, flee from a chasing Horton and a leopard and drop it from hundreds of feet into a valley full of nearly identical clovers. The impact nearly demolishes Who-ville like an earthquake. Horton painstakingly picks 2,999,999 clovers through the field and finally finds it "on the 3 millionth flower." The earthquake, combined with hearing Horton's voice through the drain pipe, is enough to convince the rest of the Whos that the mayor is not crazy, and they all tell Horton they believe in him. The Kangaroo finds out that Horton still has the speck, and, as her patience completely runs out, organizes a mob by telling lies to get rid of the speck once and for all. The animals plan to rope and cage Horton, but the Kangaroo turns this into a chance for attention, and offers Horton an ultimatum: give up the speck and "admit" he was wrong and that she was right, or pay the price. Despite a heartfelt speech from Horton that clearly touches the animals, Kangaroo still takes this refusal as an insult to her authority, orders them to proceed, and drop the speck into a pot of boiling beezlenut oil to "teach him not to make up stories of people on specks!"
The Mayor enlists all of his people to make noise by shouting, "We are here," as well as playing a variety of instruments, so the animals can hear them. JoJo runs off to Whoville's abandoned Star-Studying Tower and soon Ned takes off after him. Inside, he reveals his ingenious invention: the Symphony-Phone, a giant machine that serves as an orchestra, and proceeds to add it to the mix of sounds. Still, the sound is not loud enough. The animals do not hear anything and the Kangaroo, who has had Horton caged, takes the clover, holds it over the oil and releases it. In a last-ditch effort to be heard, JoJo grabs the horn used to project Horton's voice, runs up the highest tower and yells "YOPP!" A sound wave emerges and ripples up to the already pressured clouds and collides with them, causing the clouds to break and the sound to come through. Hearing the Whos' cries, Rudy, the Kangaroo's son (who has been in his mother's pouch throughout the film despite being old enough to be out and too large for her pouch), grabs the clover before it hits the oil and returns it to Horton, refusing his mother's orders to return to her pouch. The animals finally realize the atrocity they almost committed. The Kangaroo is miserable for her behavior, but Horton forgives her, and offers his friendship, which the Kangaroo accepts.

towards the end of the film the whole cast sang REO's i can't fight this feeling anymore. so cute o_0

AWWW! WAWA NAMAN!!!

i don't know whether i wanna shoot the owner or laugh at the poor pup. i saw this on my friend's wall on FB. i'm not sure if im loving it or hating it. the puppy is just so cute...

RANTS: stairway to heaven

i cannot fucking believe GMA deems to think that a hodgepodge of their "successful" artist would even deem worthy to portray roles and adapt one of Korea's best dramas. call me bias, i don't care, but Dingdong Dantes? WTF!!! yes, and the turd even had the audacity to say in an interview that, it's gonna be a hit because it's quite different from the original and because they're making it their own.

Stairway to Heaven is one of my favorite Korean dramas, and not just because Kwan Sang Woo stars in it, but because i love the story and it's really a big-bawl-your-hearts-out-drama and i just looove those!

we'll as for me, i'll just be content watching the ORIGINAL stairway to heaven, as i'm never a big fan of GMA network anyway. i just hope people will HATE it. bwahahaahahahah!!!

STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN
The story is about Han Jung-suh (Choi Ji Woo) and her best friend Cha Song Joo (Kwon Sang Woo). As childhood friends, Jung-suh and Song Joo had a special bond that blossomed into love. They were always by each other's side even when Song Joo's father dies and when Jung-suh's mother dies. After a few months, Jung-suh's father meets an actress and falls in love with her. The two of them get married and Jung Suh is very happy that her father is finally smiling, stating to Song Joo that she hasn't seen her father smile like that since before her mother died. After her stepmother moves in, she brings her daughter Yoori and son Tae-Hwa, but when Jung-suh's father leaves for work, her stepmother shows her true nature as a cruel woman. She thwarts Jung-suh's attempts to study abroad and so Song Joo leaves to America to study abroad alone, leaving a sad Jung-suh behind. Jung-suh is left alone to suffer in the silent cruelty of her step sister, Yoori, and new step mother. Jung-suh's cruel stepmother plots for her own daughter, Yoori, to win the affections of Song Joo, who comes from a rich family, and thwarts any attempts of Jung-suh's to be with Song Joo. All the while, Jung-suh tries to be nice to her new step brother, Tae-Hwa, who in return mistakes this friendship for affection. Tae-Hwa falls in love with young Jung-suh.
Song Joo is in America for three years. On the night of his return, an excited Jung-suh rushes to greet him. A jealous Yoori tries to stop the two lovebirds from reuniting so as they race to the airport, Yoori spots Jung-suh and intentionally runs her over with her car. Jung-suh, now unconscious, is taken to the hospital where a group of people just died in fire. Yoori swaps Jung-suh's ID with one of the people that just died in the fire to fake her death. She takes the real Jung-suh to her biological father's home. Tae-Hwa, still in love with Jung-suh, finds out what Yoori has done but sees the accident as a chance to run away with Jung-suh, who would otherwise return to Song Joo. Yoori and Tae-Hwa, along with their father, are the only ones who know what has happened, and Tae-Hwa's father agrees to cover up for his daughter. Jung Suh loses her memory, and Tae-Hwa moves them away and changes their names. Meanwhile, at the scene of the crime, Song Joo finds a blood stained picture of them both from when they were young.
Five years after the accident, it seems that Yoori has won the battle of love; she is soon to be engaged to Song Joo. The day before getting together with the families to arrange the engagement, Song Joo decides that he needs to let go of Jung-suh. He goes to the carousel they used to ride as children and he whispers a wish to see Jung Suh just once more. He and looks up, and he sees her on the carousel. Jung-suh is now Kim Jisoo (after being renamed by Tae-Hwa, who is now Han Chulsoo). Song Joo rushes to Jisoo and tells her that she is Han Jung-suh but she does not believe Song Joo's words. However, Song Joo believes that it really is Jung-suh and determines to make her remember her past and the love she had for him. Through a series of events he and Jung Suh become close. Jung-suh's family also meet her and are shocked by the similairty to the daughter they think is dead. Yoori and her mother, who both know the truth, are terrified that Jung-suh will regain her memory, therefore ruining their plans. However, Jung-suh does not remember her past life and Song Joo finally realizes that he is mistaken and this is not the Jung-suh he knew. Fortunately, one day, Jung-suh regains her memory when Yoori nearly hits her with her car again. She rushes to tell Song Joo. She goes back to Tae-Hwa and he tells her the truth— the accident, her memory loss, and everything else, and forgives him as she knows he did it out of love. Luck seems to be on the side of the two lovers, Jung-suh and Song Joo, until Jung-suh discovers she has eye cancer. Depressed, she goes to Tae-Hwa and tells him to take her away from Song Joo since she can't bear to see him in pain. Gradually, Jung-suh's vision deteriorates into blindness. Determined to not cause any more sadness to his step-sister, Tae-Hwa tells Song Joo and his family the truth with Tae-Hwa's biological father providing further evidence. Yoori is arrested and her mother is sent to a mental institute. Song Joo marries Jung-suh, who is now blind.
Over the next few weeks, Jung-suh and Song Joo spend quality time together as husband and wife; Song Joo and Tae-Hwa even become good friends. Jung-suh tells Tae-Hwa that her one wish would be to see Song Joo's face for one last time. Both Song Joo and Tae-Hwa (separately) ask a doctor to allow them to give Jung-suh one of their corneas, but the doctor informs them that they are not allowed to take corneas from live donors. Song Joo leaves the hospital disappointed, while Tae-Hwa thinks pensively about Jung-suh's last wish. He decides that he wants to grant that wish at all costs and begins to set in motion his plan. He creates fake pictures of him and a girl in France, writes letters to be sent later, and tells his friends and family that he will be going to Paris, France for his art and is not sure when he will be returning. What everyone does not realize is that Tae-Hwa has decided to commit suicide in order to donate his cornea to Jung Suh. He intentionally creates a car accident to cause his death. After his death, Jung Suh has the operation and is able to see again. However, Jung-suh later on finds out that the cancer has already metastasized. Though Song Joo wants her to pursue all chemotherapy treatments to live, she decides that she would much rather spend time with him than "die in a hospital." She also finds out about Tae-Hwa's sacrifice for her and decides to only see all things that are good and beautiful. Jung-suh also visits Yuri in jail and her stepmother in the hospital, shortly before her death. Jung-suh dies a few days later at the seaside near her childhood house in the arms of Song Joo.
The epilouge shows Song Joo playing a tune which he used to play for Jung-suh during their childhood. At length, he stands up, asking Jung-suh if she can hear him.

ten years ago........

ten years ago.... at seventeen, i was on the verge of starting a new life in manila. i said goodbye to highschool (it was such a bittersweet moment, saying goodbye to CHST, the nuns & teachers, the corridors & ramps where we usually hang-out, the green  cafeteria table which we called ours since junior year, no more exchanging money for chits and standing in line just to buy a ham sandwich, no more waking up at 4a.m., no more school bus, no more catered lunches the menu never changes all  year long!) and hello to college life! here i come...CARPE DIEM!!!

living in manila with the sibs (without the parents) was so world's apart from my earlier sixteen years of existence. suddenly i was free to go where ever i wanted to, i could sleep late reading books (no more flashlight under the blanket), the allowance also soared because i had to eat out during lunch break and take care of random school fees, i met new friends, classes would start at 1pm and would usually end at 9pm, and in between those times, i had ample time to discover metro manila. the only thing that was not different, aside from the fact that i went to a catholic university and had to wear a uniform, was my higschool friends (the bitches suicides). we were all there...witnesses to a vow, like a mantra we told ourselves more than we recited our hail mary's, that we would go on to college, and make a difference.

we started out as a group when we were just thirteen, random freshmen meeting in various classrooms, it was the love of books and movies that bonded us all. some of us were never even classmates during our four year high school life, but still there was that thin thread that connected us to eachother. and ten years, later we are still together.

so where are we now? some are single, some engaged, some with plus one but still reading and watching together.
